texas politics
I see from the map that Bexar (San Antonio), Harris (Houston) and Dallas Counties saw the light this year, joining Travis (Austin) and El Paso County in voting for a Democratic president. This now means we have five urban blueberries in the tomato soup that is Texas. So we can't go on about Austin's unique and lonely position anymore (I guess no one ever counted El Paso as most of the counties on the border with Mexico have traditionally gone Democrat.)

Dallas though. 57.5% to Obama, 41.5 to McCain. That blows all my (and probably your) preconceptions about the place out of the water. And might make George W. Bush and family think again about moving there in January.

Travis County, as expected went for Obama, 64% to 35%. As for our precinct -- 83% to Obama.
