sentimental jottings

Good to find this last night, a mirror site for Dixon Coulbourn's Idle Time, an online version of his 1979-88 punkzine along with his photographs from the Austin punk scene of that era. I mentioned his tragically early death last summer, but only last night did I discover we had been neighbors at the time. He lived in one of the appartment complexes on our street and died the month we moved in. As I wrote we never met although we read (and commented on) each other's blogs. (And both those blogs have gone now -- except for here and here). I wish we had put aside the online insoucience and arranged to met for a beer.

Turns out too that Dixon was in a band with the guy who does the website for our Neighborhood Association.

Everything connects, but sometimes it's too late.

So anyone reading this in Austin, get in a touch some time and we'll grab a beer or coffee. It's a gray morning (some very strange nimbostratus over the city right now) and I'm feeling my mortality.
