I've read 50 of the Time magazine 100 best English language novels from 1923 to now, so I guess it must be a pretty good list with a healthy chunk of genre fiction and even Watchman. It's good to see Ubik in there. And it's cool that Iris Murdoch's first novel rather than any of those giant stodgy wedges she churned out was picked. Would have added Ada, Lanark, Empire of the Sun, Go, The Gay Place and maybe The Last Picture Show, myself, although I'm only halfway through the last title at the moment...

...and by golly, how come I had to move to Texas to discover what a terrific book that is? Although it does make me want to steer clear of those North Texan towns out Wichita way.
